It definitely helps convey the feeling that the inventors of such technology probably felt upon giving thought to the potential applications it would hold in the future. Seeing as how it now practically controls the importance of information specificity along with the rate at wish it travels, I'd argue that "unsettling" is an understatement to the level of wonder such an invention initially brought.
