How to Create a Mobile-Wise Design

Hello, this is Mikel Bruce with Tiny Frog Technologies. I’d like to talk a little bit about poor mobile usability. As you can imagine, mobile viewing is such a big deal nowadays for websites, mainly because there’s a large portion of the website visitors or users who will land on your website and view it through a mobile device or a tablet. So, just having a responsive website is not really quite enough. How the content is laid out on the website, and how the navigation is displayed and the user experience, and the user path, meaning how they’re going from one page to the next on a mobile site is very important. So what we like to do is we like to design the main website from the perspective of the mobile-first perspective. Or what we really like to say – mobile-wise design. So, when we’re designing our sites or we’re putting together our sites, our designers and strategists are conceptualizing how the site will look when it is being viewed, not only on a desktop or a laptop, but also on a mobile device or a tablet. Because, you’re probably going to get anywhere from fifteen, to twenty-five, to thirty percent of your traffic on those devices. And if your website is not very user-friendly in those areas, someone will probably leave it right away. The tolerance levels for viewing on a mobile website are much lower. People won’t take the time as they will viewing on a desktop or a laptop, just because usually they’re in a hurry. The screen is much smaller, so it’s really important that that is considered in the process of designing and building your website. This is Mikel, with Tiny Frog Technologies. If you have any questions on mobile/responsive design and development, or website design and development in any area, feel free to let us know. Thank you.
